The Giving Tea
This holiday season how about a giving tea.A tea
from the heart that honors a loved one, celebrates a friendship
or joins members of the community for gifts of humanity
Tea For Two - tea for two can be a gift of time. Friends
or family meeting for tea. A mother and daughter, father and son,
two cousins, two friends. At a favorite tearoom or in someone's home.
The place doesn't matter. The time you spend when you get there
does. It could be an hour but try to make it more. After all it has probably
been some time since you have been together. Life gets busy.
Humani-TEA at Home - invite your children for tea on a snowy
afternoon. No school. It's been a while since you sat and talked, sipped
hot cocoa and baked cookies in your pajamas. If it's a blustery day bundle
up and make a snow man. I'll bring the carrots if you find a hat, how
about Dad's red scarf from the closet. Let the dogs run around too. Give
them a biscuit. Come inside and cuddle by the fire. Read a
bunch of books about anything.
Tea for Humanity - Pick a cause. Something you believe in.
So many to choose from I know. Pick one this year and another next year.
Who knows how many lives you can touch in your lifetime. Pick a
theme. Plan the menu. Call local business for donations
because you care. Tell them a story in your own words. Be
open, truthful and gracious and don't be afraid. Carry on and before you
know it you'll have everything you need. Sometimes you won't have to even
ask. Invite the guests. Post a flyer and wait to see who comes.
The guests may surprise you. Honor your guests. Decorate the
room. Serve the tea. Play soft music. Say a little prayer
regardless of your religion. Say a little speech. Say it from the
heart. Have fun. Enjoy the guests and thank them for coming. As
they are leaving look at their faces and realize that you gave more than
you got. And you got a lot. And everybody feels full of the kinds of things
you can't buy, even the "Day After" in the "Bargain of
the Year Bin". And best of all, the feeling always fits, it never
gets old, it comes in every color, can be warn any season, and it never
goes away.
