Why
"Tea with Marie"?
Do you think today's lifestyle focuses on anger, violence and decadence?
Do you think we need an antidote to the daily news stories about murder,
rape and arson? Are you sick of seeing nightly realistic "news programs"
that depict in detail how people are swindling and hurting each other?
Are you tired of talk shows that explore every avenue of decadence available
today? Are you sick of filling your mind with such ugliness every day?
Well, so was I! That is why I started my own television talk show called
"Tea with Marie".
Tea with Marie is a talk show with a focus on beauty, gentility and tranquility.
Tea with Marie is a tea party on the air, with a host, interesting guests
and a backdrop of beauty and gentility. Tea with Marie welcomes you, the
television viewer to join the show as a guest yourself, by "putting
the kettle on" and sitting down to join us with a cup of tea and
a peaceful mind. Tea with Marie discusses topics such as the value of
piano lessons, the beauty of Japanese Ikebana, and the history of the
tea ritual in America and the serene benefits of yoga practice. Tea with
Marie makes you feel better after watching it, not worse!
Tea with Marie is concerned about today's youth. All you need to do is
read the newspapers to see stories about life in these United States for
youngsters today. "Anti-bullying programs to reduce violence in schools".
(Providence Journal- New York- AP) "Teenagers home alone too often
YMCA says." (Chicago Tribune) According to the Chicago Tribune, the
average teen spend two days a week unsupervised for five hours a week
during the "danger zone" from 3 to 6 PM. Is this acceptable?
Tea with Marie thinks not. Young people have been watching TWM after school
hours and learning new information that is positive as well as a life
style that is enhancing and self-fulfilling not detrimental. The philosophy
of TWM extends itself beyond the television studio to the community where
TWM has been host to "Teas for Teens" and other programs designed
to promote healthy self-esteem and teach youngsters about etiquette and
consideration for each other.
We
also live hectic lives today. Sometimes we feel as though we can never
get off the treadmill that is filled with all of our daily obligations.
Our time is pulled in so many directions with the choices offered to us
from technology and other modern wonders. We are internally screaming
for room to breathe! Tea with Marie offers the tea ritual to give you
an opportunity to take some time out of your busy schedule and sit down
with a nice cup of tea, perhaps in a pretty cup, on a tray laden with
linens, sweets and some flowers. Pamper yourself. You deserve to take
time and do nothing so you can recharge your batteries and put some balance
in your life. You are also making sure you keep beauty in your life but
you must make the time for it to happen.
The tea ritual is a wonderful way to connect. One of the things that
is diminishing in today's lifestyle is our opportunity to connect. Taking
tea by yourself on a regular basis as I do in a special corner of your
world helps you to connect with your inner self. New ideas and solutions
to old problems sometimes arise later after we have taken the time to
connect with ourselves. Connecting with a close friend over a cup of tea
is a wonderful way to share intimacies and to keep that valued friendship.
It is more than just calling a friend to ask her to do something for you
when you ask her to tea. Tea parties are also lots of fun to observe holidays
or special occasions and to invite many of your friends to share in the
celebration. Then you can indulge and bring out your grandmother's silver
service, the heirloom linens and decorate and bake. You are creating beauty.
And if you don't have a silver tea service you can find creative ways
to design your own kind of beauty. And don't forget, as Emilie Barnes
says:
"It really isn't the tea,
It's the spirit of the tea party
And it is in that spirit that
I hope you will join me."
So now you see some of the reasons why I am producing Tea with Marie.
